FO (finally): Man socks in Baltic Sea

Whew! Done.

And the calf shaping that gave me so much trouble turned out okay, I think. They seem to fit well--not too tight at the top, but not baggy either. And as I mentioned before, if the decreases are a bit wonky, they'll be up under his pants so no one can see, right?

I think I've talked quite enough about these socks, so I'll just get on with the details:

Pattern: Basic 4x2 ribbed sock, starting at 92 stitches and decreasing every 6th row down to 78 stitches at the ankle. Slip-stitch heel on 38 stitches and gusset decreases to 76 stitches for the foot with ribbing just on the top. 11" high from cuff to floor, 10.5" toe to back of heel.
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Baltic Sea. I was amazed that these long and tall socks only took one skein each! I bought three assuming I'd need them, and as it was I had four grams left of one skein and five of the other! The smaller leftover was plenty enough for a wee tiny sock for my wall. Now I have to decide whether the extra skein will be socks for the boys to match Daddy's, or short socks for me. :)
Needles: US1 DPNs
Gauge: 8.5 st/in in stockinette
Time: 7/10/2007 - 8/31/2007

Dave:

They look comfy, and that's a great colourway!

lisa:

I think people will just be so impressed that you knit the socks that nobody is going to notice anything wonky! They even line up well! The calf shaping looks good!

They look very nice! I'm sure he will love them. What a great, manly color too. I'm sure this is a satisfying FO for you. Oh...and you definitely need to make matching socks for the boys!

Opal:

The looks snazzy. ;-)

Excellent! And they fit perfectly, love the calf shaping. They look great and they won't be cutting off his circulation.

Hey! We don't get enough men modeling their socks on the knit blogs! They turned out great! It's nice to see the Baltic knit up as I have some lying in wait to be man socks someday. Yes, LL Shepherd Sock has quite a lot of yardage.

Very nicely done!!!

Those are fabulous!
