Aaahhhh...

Finally, the heat is gone, and we're back to the weather we know and love here in San Diego. A/C is off, the windows are open, and the breeze blows once again. Heaven.

I haven't written a non-knitting post in a while, so I thought I'd share some pictures from the weekend. Don't worry, there'll be some knitting content at the end!

We started out yesterday with both boys having soccer games. It was J the younger's first ever game, and he had a ton of fun. Yep, we now have two boys in soccer. Bring on the soccer momness!

He got to kick some of the goal kicks, since he was playing defense:

Despite the fact that the "regular season" started yesterday, today was the opening day celebration and picture day. Here's C on the right with his cousin. They're five months apart and we live around the corner from each other, so they're more like brothers than cousins. They're going to different elementary schools now, but they've always been on the same soccer and baseball teams. They love it.

After soccer pictures, we headed for the beach, where we all enjoyed our normal beach activities...

C surfed, boogie boarded, and used his boogie board as a skim board:

J learned to swim this summer. (I am so relieved!) Now that he can swim, he decided it was time to try boogie boarding. He had an absolute blast, and it was so fun. I held him until a wave came, and then gave him a little push so that he'd catch it. They were the teeny white water waves (where if he fell off he could sit up and be fine), but it was a thrill for him to finally be doing it. No pictures of that since I was in the water with him, so I'll post this one of him playing in the water with a dump truck:

M, Mr. bioengiknitter, headed out with his surfboard. I took mine out for a while, too, with marginal success. It was a nice small day for me to attempt honing my sad surfing skills. Again, no pictures of me, but here's M:

And when I wasn't surfing or helping J boogie board, of course I was knitting. I'm working on Roza's Socks by Grumperina in my first ever Koigu--probably my last pair that will qualify for the Summer of Socks 2007 and they're doing double-duty, qualifying for September's Ravelry Sockdown as well. I'm just past the cuff on the second sock. Here's the first one, enjoying the beach:

And that's my weekend in a nutshell. I'm pooped. Time to get the kiddos and myself to bed early to start another week of school and work all over again tomorrow. Boo.

Opal:

Sounds like a magnificent weekend of fun. I love the way your Roza socks are turning out. Such a beautiful shade of Koigu.

I just love San Diego and the weather there! Looks like you've been having a great time!

Those are fantastic pictures. I keep coming back to look at them and wish I were at the beach. With a sock.
