WIP roundup, 26 July 2007

Okay, so here's my latest progress on my two active projects:

First, the Summer of Socks socks--a basic 4x2 ribbed sock for M. M is tall, has large feet, and a cyclist's calves. I'm still on the first sock, and it's taking me for-ev-er:

I've already gone on about my struggles with my first-ever calf shaping. Fourth time's a charm, right? Here's what I've ended up with.

I'm moderately happy about it, and it does look a little better when it's stretched out. I tried it on M last night, and the decreases didn't look so sloppy when it was on his leg. I'm on the heel flap now, and more than happy to be doing something other than 4x2 rib!

On to the Purdue baby sweater...

I had to rip the neck a second time. After the last attempt at a crew neck was a bust, I decreased down to fewer stitches, and did a twisted rib to try and see if it tightened up at all. Still flared. Not as much, but more than I wanted. So I ripped once again, and went the easy route, the roll neck.

All of the ends aren't woven in yet, and it was getting dark when I took the shot. Better photos and all of the details will come soon, tomorrow if I get the chance. On to a matching hat!

I love those socks!! I too am doing some socks for some "curvy" calves. The shaping turned out great!

I love the colors of the socks! The sweater turned out great!

That sweater is too cute. I should start adding stripes to things to use up stash!

Yeah, I like the colors on that sock too, and your purdue sweater looks good!

I feel your pain. When it comes to sock knitting, I wish all people had small feet and skinny calves. Well, OK, maybe not skinny calves, because I enjoy playing with ankle/calf decreases.

The sweater turned out great.

The socks are coming along nicely! And the sweater is really cute! The roll neck works really well.
