FO: Jaywalkers

...not Summer of Socks socks, because they were started before yesterday. These Jaywalkers for my SIL, as regular readers know, have been on the needles for a long time (April! Ack!). First, they were too small. Then, I broke a needle. Finally I got more needles and finished them up. I had her try on the first one before knitting the second one, so I'm relatively confident that they'll fit this time, but even if they don't, I'll just find someone that fits into them before I do them a third time!

I do love them, though. The colors are perfect for anything in the standard black/brown/tan work wardrobe. The yarn behaved very nicely in this pattern, spiraling a bit but with nothing glaring about it. I enjoyed knitting these, and really like the finished product.

I don't have a modeled shot yet, so here's the standard grass shot:

Pattern: Jaywalker socks, by Grumperina, found on Magknits.
Yarn: Superwash hand-dyed by Collette from Lazy Perry Ranch, color Owl, from their etsy store epicurious. Contrast heel, toe, and a few rows of cuff in Brown Sheep Wildfoote in Black Orchid.
Needles: US1 / 2.25mm
Gauge: 8.8 st/in
Notes: I didn't change anything (that I can think of), other than putting a contrasting heel, toe, and a bit of cuff on. I'm never that confident of yarn I'm not familiar with in a top-down sock, so I did the CC just in case. As it is, I had tons left over. Enough to make a mini sock to add to my wall, and plenty left over even after that.

I can't say enough how happy I am with the yarn. It's super soft and I love the colors. The socks feel very luxurious, and I hope SIL likes them! I'll try to get a modeled shot of them (assuming they fit!) for the Jaywalker gallery.

If I'm not back before Sunday, I'll be offline until the 1st. Vacation, woo hoo! Have a great weekend!

Good Lookin'. The toes and heels are a really nice choice.

Lovely socks. I really like how the pattern compliments the yarn. :-)
