Woo hoo, they're done! Thanks again to sillyrabbit who sent me some more Carrot WOTA so that I could finish these, here at long last are my Magic30 socks!
These, of course, are just a slight modification on Norma's Magic28 socks, and they used up some leftovers I had from other projects...um, well that plus some, since I needed more of the orange. So now I have still more leftovers. I'll use that as stripes for a hat or something like that, I won't attempt another pair of socks with what I have left!
I LOVE the colors in the Maya as much in stockinette stitch just as much as I did in the stitch pattern for My So-called Scarf. I got this yarn, which is a lot like Manos del Uruguay, from cucumberpatch's eBay store to make the scarf above (and an unphotographed hat) to match my college roommate's orange winter coat.
Pattern: Magic28 socks (PDF) by Norma of Now Norma Knits, modified to 30 stitches, see notes below
Yarn: Leftover Knitpicks Wool of the Andes in Carrot, left over from these socks, and Debbie Bliss Maya in color 16, left over from this scarf.
Needles: US5 / 3.75mm
Gauge: 5.5 st/in
Notes: 30 stitches cast on instead of 28. 24 rows before starting the heel, because this is how much of the Maya I had. 32 stitches used for the heel flap, so that I would keep it an even number. One extra short row for turning the heel to account for the increase in stitches, and a couple more stitches picked up for the gusset. 30 rows before starting toe decreases.
Into the Dulaan (PDF) box they go!
