We went to the beach today. J and I leave tomorrow for Catalina Island with my parents and my bro and his family. M and C are coming on Wednesday, partly because M can't really take the whole week off of work, and partly because C has soccer camp this week, and it would be hard to miss it not only for the teamwork stuff but because we paid for it as part of our registration. :|
We went to Moonlight Beach, a great beach near us in Encinitas. The main section of beach was quite crowded, but just a short walk north about 100 yards and it was less so. And the main section is black balled (marked "no surfing" with a flag) anyway, so with C doing some surfing on his soft board, we wanted to be away from that area anyway.
I knit:
Monkey sock progress
Jojoland Melody (sorry I forgot to add the yarn in the last post)
In the midst of gusset decreases
Love this yarn!
C surfed, and J did his usual "wave jumping," of which his version includes M or I lifting him over waves, with an occasional spin:
And we found that:
- if you bring a regular shovel to the beach;
- so that a few dads can dig a cool lagoon;
- every kid on the beach will flock to it.
I'm off to the islands (okay, just one island, and it's not that exotic)!

Knitting and beach fun. Really, I don't think it gets much better.

Yeah, a regular shovel and a guy digging are surely kid magnets!
