Well, this is my first meme, but it's one that I'm interested in doing, just to tally up all the things I've learned in the past year or so that I've gotten back into knitting. I learned to knit as a child from my mom, but it wasn't until I found knitting blogs and sites like Knitty and Magknits that I got excited about knitting again! Super Eggplant was the first blog I ever read. I stumbled upon her blog via her totebag tutorial, and noticed that she also wrote about knitting. From there, I found Yarn-a-go-go, Half baked, and of course the Yarn Harlot. I was hooked! Eventually I got tired of stalking each blog to see if they'd posted anything new, and found Bloglines. Now my Bloglines list is totally out of control, as you can see in the right sidebar, but it's fun, and I can usually get through new posts by sitting down a little at a time on the weekends.
And now, on to the meme! Prior to this newfound excitement, the only things I had ever knit were a garter stitch blanket for my Grover doll out of something akin to Red Heart "Mexicana" (my very first project), and numerous feather-and-fan baby blankets for my friends in my 20s when they all started having kids. Everything else has been in the last year or so, and I'm so glad to have found a way to satisfy my thirst for learning new things in something I really enjoy!
Bold for stuff you’ve done, italics for stuff you plan to do one day, and normal for stuff you’re not planning on doing. I added links to representative FOs, where it made sense to. I tried not to have any repeats, but there are a couple.

Looking at this list, the things I'd like to tackle in the next year are: steeks, button bands/buttonholes, tubular caston and castoff, and mittens/gloves.
Woo, that list makes me feel really good. For people who say that knitting is hard, or that certain techniques used in knitting are hard, I have to say just try it. There are so many resources available on the internet to help out. Instructions, tutorials, photos, even videos. I didn't know how to do any of this a year ago. I could do knits, purls, k2tog, and yarn over. That was it! Just try it, and you can learn new things, too!

Now that's a long list! Is it normal to want to try all of it... at the same time?

Whoa! What a long list! I really should do this meme today since I have about no knitting to show...but I don't think I can focus enough today to do it (counting the HOURS until my trip!).
