Here's a sock, the first of a pair I'm knitting for my SIL. She requested "black and tan" socks, so I went hunting for the perfect yarn. After asking for suggestions on the knittyboard, someone gave me a link to this etsy store, where I found the "Owl" colorway--just what I was looking for!
Even though her feet are small (yay!), I'm always a bit worried about running out of hand-dyed yarn when doing cuff-down socks, so I got some solid black for the toes, heels, and a splash on the cuff. She had admired my Zinnia Jaywalkers, so I'm knitting Jaywalkers for her, too.
I'm just doing the one for now, until I can make sure that they fit. The leg of Jaywalkers isn't as stretchy as many other patterns, so I'm a bit concerned. I made the large size for myself and they turned out big. So I'm doing the small size for SIL, but I also went down from size 1 needles to size 0's, so I'm hoping that she can still get it over her heel. I'll find out this weekend and either re-knit this one, or start on the second!

Is she a Guiness fan by any chance?

Those are nice socks, the anklets too! Actually, I prefer shortie socks, for me just a bit higher than those anklets. One would think it would make the making of the sock go more quickly, but I seem to be in a slow motion state with this recent pair! The toenails are funny, such a different world with a girl child than a boy child!

The close-up of the colors is great, it does look like an owl.

I love the sock! Knitting Jaywalkers with that yarn was inspired. It looks fantastic! Especially with the contrasting yarn for the cuffs, heel, and toe. Thanks for entering my blog contest! It's nice to know there are people out there reading it. Stop by anytime! I think I just found a new blog to put in Bloglines. :)

Oh, so sorry they didn't fit. But they are *so* cute!! Love the colorway, and love how you did the cuff, heel, and toe in contrast. Man, I'm really salivating over this sock.
