FO: Chevron lace anklets

Here's a quick pair of anklets, made for my 5-year-old niece with the leftovers from my Dublin Bay socks. I planned on making some mini-Dublins for her, but ended up worried that I would run out of yarn. So I went through my trusty Harmony Guide to Knitting Stitches (which I think I must have gotten from my mom when I was about 13?) and chose a chevron lace pattern for the short cuff. It was a 7-stitch repeat so I went with 49 stitches on US1 needles. I did three repeats of the lace and then went into a generic heel flap sock from there. I made them a bit on the big side, so that they'd fit for longer on her ever-growing feet. Even so, I still had about 10 yards left over in one piece, which I'll send to Shelly for her sock yarn blankie.

I love knitting for this niece because she's always very appreciative of getting hand-knit things! I gave these to her on Thursday night, and as far as I can tell, she hasn't taken them off since. She put them on straight from the needles, so I wasn't able to grab a photo of them until Friday. They're a bit fuzzy from being in her shoes, but she does love them!

Yarn: Lorna's Laces in Black Purl

Oh, I was mistaken before. She has taken them off, if just for the short time it took me to get a photo of her special spring break pedicure, along with that of her friend:

Oh, and the KP Getaway tank top and associated gifts were a bit hit on Saturday! My SIL loved them, and her grandma gushed. A discussion ensued about hand-made gifts. My SIL mentioned that while she received a ton of hand-made gifts at her baby shower, at the last several showers she's been to, hers has been the only one (she makes adorable flannel blanket quilts). Everyone of course agreed that hand-made gifts are both more fun to get as well as to give!

Don't you just love appreciation! Great socks!

Kim:

wheee! I love the little flowers! I've so been in the mood for a cute pedicure. Nice socks, too.
