Woo, two FO posts in two days! It makes me feel productive...

The entrelac scarf is done! I'm really happy with it, have already worn it and gotten several comments! Thank goodness for this week's chilly afternoon baseball game, because I think my days of cool enough weather to wear this are coming to an end quickly. I haven't decided yet whether to put a fringe on it. I blocked it severely in an attempt to get better drape, which I think succeeded. I like it, anyway. I do sort of like the dimensional-ness of the unblocked entrelac, but it was sort of stiff to use as a scarf that way. It's much more flexible now. Headless shot to demonstrate:

And a closeup, because it's my first entrelac and I love the way it comes out! Whenever people saw me working on it, they'd ask if I was knitting strips and then weaving them. They were all very impressed! It's not a hard technique, but the results are interesting and it looks a lot more complicated than it is.

Pattern: Entrelac Scarf (PDF), by Allison LoCicero, and for me a test run for a full-blown Lady Eleanor from Scarf Style.
Yarn: Patons Soy Wool Stripes in Natural Navy, about 4 balls.
Needles: US8
This was my first big project with the SWS. I like it, with its long color runs. It was a good cheaper test of the entrelac technique for me. I got the balls for $5 each at Michael's during a sale. The yarn is very fuzzy, felts easily, and I think will pill badly since it's a single. But I do love the colors! If/when I make the full-size Lady E, I'm planning on doing it it Noro Silk Garden. I'd hate to put that much work into a project only to have it turn into a fuzzball!
All for now, have a great weekend everyone!

Beautiful! I do love the way the colors run in entralec with the SWS. About the question on knitty, I personally like it the way it is but that's my preference. I think the colors & weave look speak for the scarf. Great job!

Oh, that's gorgeous! Is the yarn soft? I did one out of Noro Silk Garden, but it's kinda scratchy. I'd like to make Lady Eleanor too, but not out of Silk Garden.

I think it looks fabulous, and I agree - probably softer than Silk Garden.

That's a very pretty scarf! I love the colors of SWS but thought it was a bit scratchy. Does it get softer with washing?

Love the scarf. I would love to do something like that is SWS but I think that you're right in that the warmer weather is going to be upon us sonner rather than later. I'd go fringless - it looks amazing!

It's gorgeous! And though it's a bit fuzzy I think it's probably much softer than Eleanor out of Silk Garden will be. I bought a few skeins to make Argosy and was kind of put off by the scratchiness (I'll still use it, of course!).

Thanks, everyone, for the input on Silk Garden. I've never used it, and it's just so pretty. But I'll definitely do something smaller with it before embarking on a Lady E to test it out!

That is beautiful! The yarn really resembles some colors of Noro I've seen, too. IK has a pattern you may want to try out the Silk Garden on - Veronik Avery's Short Row Hat.

So beautiful! I LOVE the lady eleanor, but have so much in the stash to work with before I can even begin to justify spending that kind of money on such nice yarn...look forward to reading about what you use and how it goes. (also I haven't done entrelac, so maybe I'll do a scarf like you did) That korknisse is VERY cute!
