You didn't even know I was gone, but we were in Mammoth for a long weekend of skiing this past weekend. Came home sick, but it was a really fun weekend, with both kids turning into great little skiers. C (6) is ripping it up on everything from easy to groomed/smooth black diamond runs. Here he is, following his teacher back and forth and up the edges a bit in the half pipe:
...and J (not quite 4) is able to control his speed and stop using his "pizza" after just two days of ski school (love the tongue sticking out):
I have no new WIP photos to share because it's dark and they'd be bad, but I did get 4-5" of M's Adirondack sweater done in the car, plus another fun fur hat for Kate's Children's Hospital of Boston hat drive, and some more on the entrelac scarf.
But my fun stuff for the day is that I've won some blog contests! I am so excited by this. I read many knitting blogs and had an extensive Bloglines list before I created my own blog, but I never wanted to comment or enter people's contests, because it just seemed weird to not have a blog to link to. Once I started this one, I started to be more social in my blogreading. It's been fun and rewarding--not just because I've won some things, but I feel more a part of this huge and inspiring community. Here are my recent spoils:

* On the left are some of Shelly's great sock blanket notecards and chocolate, given to me as a thankyou for sending some photos and a tutorial of how we put up an art wire in C's bedroom. Note: this is only half the chocolate, the other half having served me well while at work this afternoon...
* Next is a mug and super fun sock yarn from Theresa, my prize for correctly guessing the location of her recent getaway. She said that the colors reminded her of my Hubble photo wallpapers, and I have to agree! Dark with lots of bright and unexpected colors. Just my style.
* Finally, a ball of Classic Elite Spotlight Cotton, which I won in a grab bag drawing during Alison's "make room for baby" destash.
Woo hoo! So fun.

That ski picture is awesome! He looks so cute in his little outfit -- and so much more stable on his skis than I ever will!

Glad you like it. I, too, didn't realize just how social knitting blogs were until I started mine - it's actually most of the fun.
