No knitting content to show today. We had a rare really nice February day today, so headed down to La Jolla. I now have a new banner, and I even figured out how to post it! Let me know if the formatting isn't right. It looks okay on my screen, but I know it might be wonked up on other monitors.
One of M and my favorite places to go has always been down to "the wall" at the Children's Pool in La Jolla, just south of the cove. We used to go down there when we were dating and poor. Walk around La Jolla, and then the free entertainment of watching tourists go way out to the end of the wall to take photos, only to realize too late that big waves will crash right over the top. They'd come back running, soaking wet. We, of course, had "our spot" on the wall which was protected by rocks down below, guaranteed not to ever get wet. Hours of entertainment, let me tell you.
Of course, now C is one of those kids who lives on the edge, going out to the end actually trying to get wet (notice that the walk is wet--this is the sign that you're in the danger zone!):

California harbor seals sleep and "pup" on the beach there, so most of the tourists are turned around looking at them instead of being aware of the waves crashing into the wall on the other side. Really funny when a rogue wave gets them all. Bwah hah hah...
There have been several babies born recently, here's a not-that-great photo of one of them:

We went down to the sand and played for a while, leaving just as the clouds were coming to cover up the sun. It's supposed to start raining again tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm happy to have had a nice morning on a weekend when we can all enjoy it together!

...my apologies to anyone and everyone who doesn't live in Southern California!

You should apologize! :-) What a great fun day. It's so lovely when life works out that way.

Oooh, the beach! We went snowshoeing again today, very lovely. The beach is a bit cold for us right now though we do like going there sometimes in the winter. One of the places that I have to wonder about people's sanity is Pemaquid Point. Folks go far out on the wet rocks while the tide is lowish. These are big huge granite rocks, very wet, some even with seaweed. The surf there is very dangerous and kayakers don't even play there. But these people? They go right to the ends of these rocks, and giggle nervously when they get wet from a wave. I'm wondering if one day I'll see one of them swept into the water. Did your pkg get there?
