Still trying to figure out Movable Type...now I am using the new entry screen, thanks to help from Joanna! Here is a test link to her blog, using the link button.
Whoa! Way easier!
So now that I'll at least be sticking with this blog and Movable Type for at least a little while to try it out, I'll introduce myself...
My name is Janelle, and I live in Carlsbad, CA. I've also lived in Anaheim, CA (1969-1975), Bellingham, WA (1975-1981), and Fullerton, CA (1981-1988), in case there are any "small world" moments in my blogging future. I've been married to M (I'll decide later whether it's really worth it to keep the rest of my family anonymous) for almost 12 years, and we have two boys, C (6 1/2) and J (3 1/2). I'd love to come up with clever pet names for them like some other bloggers have done with their kids, I just can't come up with any. So C and J it is.
As the blog name implies, my degree is in bioengineering, and I work in the department of medicine at the University of California here in San Diego. In short, I build stuff for lung research. We've done a lot of work with NASA. It's probably just easier to link to the lab website, here, if you're interested.
Knitting is one of my (too many) hobbies, and is probably the one that occupies my mind (and blog-reading time) the most, despite the fact that I have an actual side business designing and making jewelry. Here's my web site, currently/still in a very sad, only partially completed state. Updating that and making it into a "real" site is next on my to do list. Until then, if you're interested in anything you see there, please feel free to send me an email, I'd love to hear from you!
Other hobbies/interests are mainly family oriented. We do a lot of sailing down in San Diego Harbor and over to Catalina Island, and enjoy geocaching with the kids. We ski in the winter, surf/beach in the summer (although most would be loathe to call my maniacal flailing "surfing"). M and I used to play a lot of soccer, but lately have resigned ourselves to cheering on the sidelines for C's team. Soccer season now over, must be just about time for t-ball! We also used to do a lot of camping and rock climbing, and hope to start in with that again, now that the kids are getting older.
That's probably about all that's worth mentioning about myself right now, seeing as I don't actually know if anyone will read this, beyond coming to look at FO photos that I post elsewhere, that is. So there you have it, my life in a nutshell. I shall now commence describing the knitting...
