FO: Felted clogs

And now we arrive at the Christmas knitting. Technically Reid was also Christmas knitting, because it was given at Christmas, but I hesitate to call it that--it was started in the summer, and was intended to be given much sooner. Oh well.

Anyway, I did four pairs of Fiber Trends Felted Clogs for Christmas gifts--my parents and M's parents. These knit up super quickly and inexpensively, but I had a lot of trouble getting them to felt right. These were my first felted items. I sought once again the wisdom of the Knittyboard, and realized that I probably wasn't felting enough. I have a front-loader, and even with three pairs of jeans and way more runs through the washer (probably upwards of 5 or 6?) than I ever thought would be necessary, they still came out, well,...lumpy. You can see below how the cuffs aren't perfectly round and even the way I've seen them on other blogs. I feel like I was felting the cr@p out of them, and they were still lumpy. I managed to stretch and manhandle them into a shape that was good enough for parent gifts, but I'd still like to know what went wrong. MIL's never did come out right, and I'm going to try to re-felt hers in her top-loader next chance I get.

These two are the ones for my mom and dad. My moms are coming out much pinker on my monitor than real life, the color is more of a bright purple than hideous pink.

Pattern: Fiber Trends Felted Clogs, these are sizes women's S and men's M. I did them without the "bumper" edging on the sole.
Yarn: Knitpicks Wool of the Andes (100% wool) in Sapphire Heather and Violet, with Mist (slate grey) as the sole and cuff color for both.
